ALIVE Children’s Ministries

Children’s Ministry

At Cornerstone Church, it is our goal to teach children how awesome it is to have a relationship with Jesus. We also want them to recognize God’s purpose for their lives in a personal way. Then, we encourage kids to find and develop their gifts and talents to serve others, both at Cornerstone and also in the community.

As a parent, you began to lay your child’s Biblical foundation from their earliest days. The ALIVE Children’s Ministry team wants to partner with you to make that foundation strong and enduring.

Registering Your Child

Our first priority is the safety and security of every child. We provide a computerized check-in system which ensures only authorized persons pick up your child. When entering our children’s ministry area to check in your child, you will be given a parent pick-up tag with a number that matches the number on your child’s name tag. You must present the parent pick-up tag to the security team to gain entry to the Children’s Center. The tags can be torn in half so that two individuals may have access to the area. Children must be escorted to and from class by their parent or guardian. Registration opens fifteen minutes prior to the start of service and closes at 9:15 am for 1st Service, 11:15 am for 2nd Service, and 7:30 pm on Wednesdays.

Sunday Services

Children will experience services that are child-targeted, relevant to their lives, and presented in a creative format where children of all learning styles are engaged. We also believe that it is important for kids to learn how to worship together corporately and how to meet with God at the altar. This is their church time.

Bible Quiz is a discipleship, memorization program that meets during 2nd Service. Participants must attend Children’s Church during 1st service. They will be picked up from the Children’s Church room prior to the start of 2nd Service. Parents will then pick their children up directly from the Bible Quiz rooms. For more information regarding our Bible Quiz program, visit

During 1st Service, we have a Sunday School class for 3 & 4 year olds and a class for 5 year olds & Kindergarten. These classes are taught in a small group environment with crafts, activities, and games to reinforce the lessons. During 2nd Service, children ages three through Kindergarten come together for Little Peoples Church where they are taught the foundational truths of the Bible through story time, worship, puppetry, and crafts.

Nursery Ministry

The Nursery ministry begins with the youngest infant through children who are two years old. Children are cared for in an atmosphere of love with music-filled lessons and a loving staff waiting to help your child start their first steps of spiritual development. Nursery ministry is provided during both Sunday morning services as well as during our Wednesday evening classes. Nursery location is to the right of the sanctuary at the end of the hall. On the Sunday or Wednesday following a child’s third birthday, they will move to our preschool ministry located in the Children’s Center.

Wednesday Nights

Our Wednesday night classes are designed to give kids a small group, gender specific environment to encourage discussion and help kids to apply biblical principles to their daily lives. Lessons reinforce the biblical concepts that are taught on Sunday. They are structured to give each child the opportunity to ask  questions and be mentored by their teachers. Classes also include time for crafts and games, as well as teaching life skills.

Serving in Children’s Ministry

What an awesome opportunity we have to be a part of raising up a generation of children who feel empowered to take the message of Jesus to their world. It takes a committed group of people with all different giftings to accomplish this mission. Whether you enjoy the littlest ones in our nursery or the energy of 5th graders, there is a place for you.

The children of Cornerstone matter deeply to God and these little ones represent a large portion of our body. Therefore, we commit to heavily investing in those who will be leading these little ones to Christ. We want you to be part of a vision-centered community, serving in your gifts, in a safe environment and thoroughly trained. The first step in ministering to children begins with an application. A background check and references are required for those who desire to serve our children.

If you would like to know more about ministering to the children and families of Cornerstone, please call Pastor Sonja at the church office at 301.262.6266.
